James "Jimmer" Webster Boyce, 63

James "Jimmer" Webster Boyce, 63, passed away from a brief battle with cancer on April 2, 2017.
Jimmer was born in Douglas, on April 7, 1953. He graduated from Saugatuck High School in 1971. Jimmer attended GVSU briefly before transferring to Muskegon Community College to join the police academy. He was a Saugatuck police officer and went on to join the Allegan County Sheriffs Office as a deputy for nine years.
Jimmer recently retired from Kalamazoo Lake Sewer and Water Authority after 24 years of being a field supervisor. He was a voracious reader, a Civil War re-enactor, a loving father, brother and son.
He is survived by his son James "Mac" M. Boyce; wife Jennifer; daughter Maria E. Boyce; his mother Margaret "Peggy" Boyce; sisters, Catherine Brockington, Victoria Boyce, Linda Kinnaman (Mark) and Virginia Berghuis (Gordon); brothers, Robert Boyce (Kristyn), Michael Boyce and Christopher Boyce; his dog Harriet; his cat Elly; cousins in Michigan and California; and extended nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father James Boyce III.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 7, from 1-2 p.m. at First Congregational Church of Saugatuck. A memorial service will follow the visitation.
