Terry Burns sentenced to jail and probation for embezzlement
Former county and township official Terry Burns will serve jail time, probation and pay a yet-to-be-determined additional amount of restitution after pleading to attempted embezzlement.
Burns was in court Monday, Aug. 25, for sentencing after pleading guilty to one count of attempted embezzlement from a vulnerable person by an agent or trustee.
Burns was sentenced by Judge Kevin Cronin to spend a month in jail, followed by a month free and then another month in jail. A third period of two months in jail may be suspended depending on several factors, Cronin said.
The full amount of Burns’ restitution—the majority of which he has paid back to Joseph Migas—will be determined at a hearing set for December.
