Milton Coy Hunter, 94
Milton Coy Hunter, 94, of Allegan, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Wings Home in Allegan after a brief illness. Milton was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Allegan, the son of E.C. and Elnora (Smith) Hunter.
Milt graduated from Allegan High School in 1937. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.
On Nov. 18, 1946, Milton married Margaret Cavanaugh. They were together for 67 years.
Milt owned and operated Hunter Brothers Shell Service Station in Allegan for more than 38 years. He was an avid golfer and had been a member of Cheshire Hills Golf Course for 39 years. He was a life member at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife Maggie; two children, Pat and Nan Hunter and Bridget and Brad Brownell; his daughter-in-law, Kim Hunter; eight grandchildren, Amy, Andy, Scott, Brad, Ryan, Vanessa, Matt and Megan; and seven great-grandchildren, Jane, Maggie, Will, Amirah, Houston, Avery and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Edward; son Kelly; and his daughter Peggy Pobuda.
Friends may meet with the family on Sunday, May 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com, where the Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
A memorial mass will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Fr. Alan P. Jorgensen, celebrant.
Private interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery, Watson Township.
