Wayland cruises to title at home tourney

It’s been said timing is everything.
You probably won’t get an argument about that from Wayland softball coach Cheri Ritz following the championship game of the Wildcats’ home tournament on Saturday, May 3.
After pounding out no fewer than nine hits during each of its first three games of the tournament, Wayland was held to five hits by Division 1 seventh-ranked White Lake in the title tilt. But the timing of those hits couldn’t have been any better, as the Wildcats put four of them together in the bottom of the fourth inning to spark a six-run uprising en route to the 8-1 victory.
