Dorr Twp. approves parks plan, $200,000 grant application
A five-year Dorr Township parks and recreation plan and $200,000 grant application to help move the plan along were approved after public hearings during the Monday, Feb. 23, Dorr Township board meeting.
Treasurer Jim Martin said $200,000 in funds has been set aside for the past few years to be used to match a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. The total project cost of $400,000 is for development of existing facilities at North Park for the fiscal year 2015-2016.
The plan includes installing restroom facilities in North Park, ADA accessibility at playgrounds, Little League fields, resurfacing tennis and basketball courts and walkways connecting fields to amenities, said Kendal Gilbert of the Williams and Works engineering firm who helped the parks committee draft the plan.
