Fennville kindergarten program assessed

Walt Kaechele, Senior Correspondent

The Fennville kindergarten team gave a PowerPoint presentation to the board describing the 2:30 to 3:30 Professional Learning Communities (PLC) progress to date.

The PLC is a collaborative group of teachers working towards making pre-school, kindergarten and first grade students academically ready.

The PLC program focuses on establishing norms for procedures and goals that function within a standard timeline.

The teachers then cycle these expectations and goals through a series of assessments and re-assessments to analyze individual student data and then proceed with intervention where necessary and then start the process all over again.

Elementary principal Albert Lombard said, “The Monday PLC has been very beneficial to us. We even spent some time on Friday to look at some of the progression taking place between pre-school and first grade and it identified a couple of areas we need to work on."
