GED exams experience overhaul

Students in the midst of working toward their GED this year were met with a new challenge. They had to start over.

General Education Development testing underwent a major national overhaul, which went into effect Jan. 1.

Allegan Public School’s adult education and virtual learning director Brenda Nyhof said, “It was updated to ensure more career and college readiness. It is aligned more with Common Core standards—they increased the rigor and made it more applicable for daily situations where people will apply their knowledge.”
