Love INC serves Allegan following store closing
In order to make the best use of funds, Love In the Name of Christ is consolidating its Allegan Heart to Heart store with the Hamilton location.
“We like to be as positive as we can,” said Love INC director Brian Stauffer. “It just wasn’t getting the donations in Allegan we needed; everything was being hauled down from Hamilton and sales weren’t what we needed to make money for the ministry—to help people in need.
“Since it wasn’t doing that, we thought we could do it another way.”
Once the move is complete, the organization is expanding hours at Hamilton’s Heart to Heart.
Stauffer said the store will be open Monday through Saturday when it was previously closed on Monday.
He stressed Love INC will continue to serve Allegan.
“We still have a big presence in Allegan,” said Stauffer. “We have 30 total church partners in the towns we support—Hamilton, Allegan and Pullman.”
He said the organization will continue hosting office hours at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday from noon to 3 p.m., for those in need of the group’s diverse service offered at local churches.
He said the board is open to ideas from the community, both with ideas of additional needs to be met and ways to meet Allegan’s needs. He asks those with ideas contact him by Tuesday, Sept. 9, at (269) 751-2533, the same number to call to schedule an appointment for office hours at First Baptist Church.
The Hamilton Heart to Heart store is celebrating its expanded offerings and hours with a celebration Monday, Sept. 8, with door prizes, specials and new arrivals from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The store’s merchandise includes clothing, furniture, house wares, toys and free Bibles.
“We offer everything, really,” Stauffer said.
