The Mighty Thor is one of the many characters Jerry Decaire has illustrated for Marvel Comics. During Dorr Township Library’s Mini Comic-Con, DeCaire will demonstrate how mathematics and the sciences merge with art to create a superhero.

Mini Comic-Con features Marvel artist, zombies, superheroes

Virginia Ransbottom, Staff Writer

After Hopkins District Library wraps up their summer reading program with Zombie Survival Week, Dorr Township Library will host its first Mini Comic-Con on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The miniature comic book and pop culture convention will feature a Marvel Comic illustrator, Walking Dead family race, Quidditch game, a Supernatural hunting class and a costume contest, among a score of other events.

Natalie Bazan, who is director for both the Hopkins and Dorr libraries, said the obsession with zombies came back to life with the TV series “The Walking Dead,” a post-apocalyptic horror drama based on the comic book series of the same name.
