Lois Helen Cutcher, 92
Lois Helen Cutcher, 92, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Autumn Winds, her residence for the past two years.
Born on March 3, 1926, in Plainwell, she was the daughter of Alec and Helen Minar. She graduated from Plainwell High School in 1943, and immediately took employment at the local bank. She spent her entire work career with that institution throughout its various changes. She retired as the bank manager of a new branch.
She married Cletus Cutcher in 1947. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2011. They raised three sons and watched their family grow through marriages and children.
Lois spent the majority of her lifetime in Plainwell. She moved to Wisconsin to be near her oldest son for the final five years of her life. She enjoyed happy memories of growing up on the farm with her older sister Pauline and her younger brother Jack.
She was an accomplished seamstress who expressed her love for her family by producing many articles of clothing for them over the years. She took pride in being part of a long standing Sewing Club.
In the final years of her life in Plainwell, she was part of an exercise group which became a second family to her. She was sorry to leave them, but she enjoyed her three-year-stay in a Cambridge condo overlooking a farm that reminded her of her childhood.
Dementia took many things from her in her later years but it could not quench her strong spirit. Her family gratefully gives thanks for the Autumn Winds staff for meeting her life challenges with compassion, humor and kindness. We will always appreciate their regard and respect of each individual in their care. We are also extremely grateful for the staff of Agrace HospiceCare who spent time caring for Mom. Their support was invaluable.
Lois is survived by two sons, Glen (Marlene) of Cambridge, Wis., and Stephen (Melinda) of Oreland, Pa.; five grandchildren, Laurel (Randle) Leyba, Stephanie (Forrest) Doublestein, Ian (Carey) Cutcher, Jeff Cutcher and Jane Cutcher; seven great-grandchildren, Celeste, RJ, Alanna, Andrew and Elysia Leyba, and Jude and Hawthorne Doublestein; one sister Pauline Nottingham; a sister-in-law Carlene Minar; and a brother-in-law Ralph (Bernice) Cutcher; as well as nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cletus; her son Jeffery; and her brother Jack.
A private ceremony will take place in July in Plainwell. There will be a double interment of Lois and Cletus in Hillside Cemetery of Plainwell.
