David L. Hough, 82

David L. Hough, 82, of Edwardsburg, passed to his home in heaven March 6, 2017, after a brief illness. He was a gentle, fun-loving husband, dad and grandfather. He was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Allegan County, the son of Lewis and Alice Harriet (Wilcox) Hough.
After graduating from Chicago's DeVry Technical Institute in 1955, he was hired by Bendix to calibrate instruments for their Talos Guided Missiles. Dave volunteered for the Army where he serviced the Nike Guided Missile System at White Sands, N.M. After Bendix, he worked for Miles Lab (eventually Bayer) in Elkhart, Ind., until he retired in 1999.
David married Betty Lilley July 28, 1962, and they settled in Edwardsburg joining the newly formed Community Baptist Church where he served faithfully and shared his passion for the Lord with children for more than five decades.
Mr. Hough is survived by his wife, Betty Hough; sister Betty Orweller; and brother Eugene Hough. Also surviving are Dave and Betty's children, Robin (Phil) Jack, Penny (Steve) Tessler and James (Cinda) Hough; and grandchildren, Ben, Lilly, Makenna, Rosy, Landon and Teddy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family who preceded him in death are his parents, and a brother, Hollis.
Family and friends gathered on Thursday, March 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Community Baptist Church, 28647 US-12, two miles west of Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance was at the church, where all gathered for one hour before the service. Officiating was Rev. Dan Thomas, pastor.
Interment followed at Edwardsburg Cemetery where the United States Army Honor Guard played Taps and folded the American flag.
Memorials donations may be made to the church for the "Foster Care Ministry." Arrangements were by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
