Helen Hitchcock, 86
Helen Hitchcock, 86, of Miner Lake, Allegan, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Bickford Assisted Living, Battle Creek. She was born July 7, 1927, in Allegan, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Bosas) Sikorskas.
Helen was employed by the State of Michigan as secretary to the director of the Allegan County Department of Social Services since 1955, retiring in July of 1982.
She was an active member of the Michigan Federation of Humane Societies, St. Lazare Retreat House and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Allegan.
Helen is survived by niece Anita Hallas; great-nephew Michael (Bridget) Hallas; great-nieces, Kelly Hallas and Anne (Justin) Davidhizar; sister-in-law Beatrice Worden; special friend Helen Darby; and many cherished friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilson Hitchcock and sisters, Mary (Ed) Petroshus and Berniece (Keith) Begeman.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The Rosary will be at the beginning of the visit at 6 p.m. The funeral mass will be Friday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Allegan. Celebrant is the Rev. Alan Jorgensen. Interment will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery, Allegan.
