John Joseph Zwack, 81
John Joseph Zwack, 81, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Zwack was born in Kalamazoo, a son of the late John and Nellie Slis Zwack.
He was a veteran that proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was an avid sailor and had competed in the race from Chicago to Mackinaw. He was the former owner and operator of Sea Pearl Sailboat Company.
After relocating to Myrtle Beach in 1985, Mr. Zwack founded Roto Rooter and Atlas Plumbing. He had a passion for building and showing his rail car.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Gloria Chestnut Zwack; his two children, Laurie Zwack of Holland, and Kelly Zwack of Wayland; his three grandchildren, Ashley Martin and husband Aaron of Grand Rapids, Tyler Knowlton also of Grand Rapids, and Michael Kane of Wayland; his brother Tom Zwack of Page, Ariz.; his two sisters, Mary Ann Wunderlin of Congress, Ariz., and Carol Matyas and husband Lewis of Helena, Mont.; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, with Rev. Jack Todd officiating.
