Kurt Burdette, 64
Kurt Burdette, 64, of Valparaiso, Ind., and formerly of Allegan, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, at University of Chicago Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1951, in Kalamazoo to Ronald and Dorothy (Noble) Burdette.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Raeann; three children, Amber Berg of Solano Beach, Calif., Mason and Candice Burdette of Kouts, Ind., and Laurel and Joe Nelson of Chicago; five grandchildren, Lindsay and Lauren Berg, Jaslyn and Blake Burdette and Fredrick Nelson; his mother Dorothy Burdette of Allegan; three siblings, Karman and Jim Wheeler of Louisville, Ky., Kristie and Craig Allison of Surprise Arizona and Keith Burdette of Allegan; mother- and father-in-law Don and Ruth Schulz of South Haven; two sisters-in-law, Cindy and John Williams of Allegan and Laurie and Tom Shinske of South Haven; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, four cousins and one nephew.
Kurt grew up in San Diego and graduated from Samuel Morse High School in 1969. He moved back Michigan in that year.
Kurt worked at Hardings Market, attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and accepted employment at Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor, Ind., in 1972 and moved to Valparaiso.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will follow at a later date.
