Margaret E. Brouwer, 90
Margaret E. Brouwer, 90, of Gobles passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Meadow Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, Bloomingdale.
Margaret was born June 7, 1924, in Otsego, the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Hayse) Russon and has lived in the Gobles area for the majority of her life.
On May 16, 1943, she married Hubert Brouwer. She was a member of Gobles United Methodist Church, the Rebecca Lodge, and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling, needle work, camping, loved to play cards, was an active person and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. She was employed through the years at Gobles Public Schools, and Allegan General Hospital.
Surviving are her four children, Brenda (Dick) Carl of Kalamazoo, Evelyn (Max) Kaylor of Allegan, Hubert (Percy) Brouwer Jr. of Gobles and Keith (Oscar Solis) Brouwer of Portage; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine Healy of Gobles and Darlene Arnold of Arizona; one brother-in-law Stanley (Mildred) Brouwer of Gobles; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert in 2011; a twin sister Marjorie Oisten; brother Leon Russon; and two sisters, Luella Brown and Florence McNutt.
The family will meet friends Monday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home where the funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. with pastors Nelson Hall and Carol Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery.
