The Rev. Gail A. Pike, 81
The Rev. Gail A. Pike, 81, of Gobles went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014.
Pastor Pike was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Mesick the son of the late Curtis and Dorothy "Runyon" Pike. Gail graduated from Mesick High School in 1950. He attended Michigan State University and graduated from Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music in 1954.
On Aug. 8, 1954, Gail married Joan Shine who survives.
He became the pastor of Merson Church in 1954, and served as a pastor until his death. He was vice president of Heating and Cooling Wholesalers in Grand Rapids for more than 43 years.
Also surviving are his three children, William and Lynn Pike, Linda and Mike Phillips and Sharon and Mike Vermeulen-Groth; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Larry, Bob and Luella, Bruce and Barb, Ben and Janice, and Russell; his sister Marie Bates; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother Keith.
Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Merson Church at the corner of 102nd Ave. and M-40 South, where funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. Interment at will be at Mallory Cemetery, Trowbridge Township.
