Robert L. Spaulding, 90
Robert L. Spaulding, 90, of Middleville and formerly of Allegan, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, at his home.
Mr. Spaulding was born April 27, 1925, in Battle Creek, the son of Archie and Lenora (Brewster) Spaulding. Robert graduated from Big Beaver High School in Rochester, Class of 1944. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, having served in World War II.
On May 27, 1950, Robert married Marge Cook, and had just celebrated 65 years together.
Mr. Spaulding worked for more than 25 years at the Kalamazoo City waste water plant, retiring in 1990. He was a caretaker for Anchor Point Camp (Bethel Baptist Church Camp) from 1969-1982.
Surviving are his wife Marge; four children, Daniel Spaulding, Deborah and Jim Wert, Dennis and Sandra Spaulding and Dean and Carol Spaulding; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Wood; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Duane and George; five sisters, Violet Higgins, Elsie Scroggins, June Youngblood, Winona Skowran and Glenadean Kennedy.
Friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel, where funeral services will be Wednesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. Pastor Len Schildroth from Friendship Bible Church in Hopkins will officiate. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
