Virginia Lee White (Ginger), 80
Virginia Lee White (Ginger), 80, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at the home of her eldest daughter, Candace McKinnon, under hospice care.
Ginger was born on April 12, 1937, in Kalamazoo, as the third of five children to George Eldon and Thelma Marie (Wordahoff) White.
She was a graduate of Otsego High School and took classes to become a secretary. Ginger worked several different jobs before meeting and marrying Ronald Gene McKinnon, son of John and Nettie McKinnon of Hopkins.
Ron and Ginger were blessed with six children, who were the light of Ginger’s life. Ginger enjoyed travel, swimming, food, word searches, John Wayne movies, Elvis Presley’s music, and was a talented artist as well.
She enjoyed the simple things in life, loved deeply, and fought fiercely for what she believed in. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, laughing and eating.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thelma White; her sisters, Dolores Johnson and Marjorie Gilmore; and her brother Fay White.
She is survived by her children, Candace McKinnon of Holland, Devin (Kathy) McKinnon of Otsego, Jeffrey (Sheryl) McKinnon of Zeeland, Camilla Herbert of Martin, Desiree McFanin of Otsego, and Jennifer (Lawrence Luedecking) Dorgan of Plainwell; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; her sister Kathleen White of Kalamazoo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in Thanksgiving of Ginger’s life will be Saturday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., at Way Point Community Church, 3041 96th Ave., Zeeland, MI 49464. A luncheon will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland and Way Point Community Church. Canned food donations are also being collected for the food pantry at Way Point Community Church in memory of Ginger.
