The Macatawa Legends Golf Course was the site for the Friday, May 15, OK Green golf tournament.
The Hawkeye golf team took on the challenging course near the shore of Lake Michigan and came away with, not only the tournament championship, but also the overall 2015 OK Green golf title.
Playing an 18-hole format, the Hamilton golf team breezed through the winds off Lake Michigan, the large fast greens, bunkers, water hazards and the opposition on their way to a convincing 25 (321) stroke win over second place Holland Christian’s 346.
Byron Center had been in second place overall entering the tournament, but finished fourth behind Hamilton, Holland Christian and Zeeland West (352) with a 362.
Unity Christian placed fifth with a 376 and Holland was sixth with a 389.
The Bulldogs did finish second overall with Zeeland West, Holland Christian, Unity Christian and Holland rounding out the remaining teams.
The Hamilton golfers were on their game during the tournament with three of them ultimately earning All-Conference honors and two others earning Honorable Mention.
Hamilton’s ace golfer Nick Carlson was the league medalist finishing the season with an outstanding nine-hole average of 35.88 strokes.
Zach Carlson was third with a 39.57 average and Justin Folkert finished sixth with a 41.00 average to earn All-Conference honors.
