Otsego library patrons go 'Bananas about Books'

Kayla Deneau, Staff Writer

“Our slogan is ‘Every great community deserves a great library,’” said Otsego library director Andrea Estelle.

For the last 170 years, her predecessors have worked to build a great library for the community it serves.
More than 600 people came to the library to celebrate its birthday and patron appreciation day by listening to music, playing games, receiving balloon animals, sitting in the banana car and enjoying banana splits during the “Bananas about Books” event.
The 5-year-old building on Dix Street, full of books, computers, children’s toys and more, is a far cry from the $25 the library started with in 1884.
