Allegan: Summer reading kickoff
ALLEGAN—Kick off for this year’s Summer Reading Program with the Allegan District Library’s party in the park is Saturday, June 2, at 5 p.m. at Allegan’s Riverfront Park.
The party features an interactive bubble extravaganza with Bubble Man Ron Loyd from 5 to 6 p.m. Loyd is a bubbleologist who uses soap bubbles to perform amazing tricks. The audience becomes part of the show as he creates astonishing bubble shapes and shares secrets of bubble magic.
Then, at 7 p.m., Joshua Davis will perform live. Davis was a top-three finalist on NBC’s “The Voice” (season 8). The Traverse City native says he was raised in the folk tradition: the music, the social movements, the land; and that he writes songs that blend the roots of American music with gritty rock n’ roll and vintage soul.
The artist fits this year’s musical Summer Reading Program theme: Libraries Rock!
Get signed up to read this summer and have a chance to win some great prizes.
During the event, specialty hot dogs from Dulac’s River Dogs will be available for purchase.
The rain location is the Griswold Auditorium.
