Hastings: Citizen's police academy
HASTINGS—The Michigan State Police Wayland Post recently announced it would offer a Citizens’ Academy.
The six-week program is designed to give the public the opportunity to become familiar with state police operations.
It will start April 19 and end May 31, meeting at the Barry County Central Dispatch Training Room, 2600 Nashville Road, on Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. A graduation ceremony will be May 31.
The program will cover the procedures troopers follow, increase participants’ awareness of law enforcement’s role in the community and will help the public get to know personnel at the Wayland Post.
Interested individuals should contact Trooper Kellie Summerhays of the Wayland Post at (269) 792-2213 or Summerhaysk@michigan.gov to receive an application.
