New Richmond: Science Fun Fair
NEW RICHMOND—Fennville High School has planned its fifth annual Salmon Release Day and Science Fun Fair on Friday, April 26.
The school participates in the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Salmon in the Classroom program.
Guided by coordinator Carole McNeal, the high school students learn how to raise Chinook Salmon from eggs to smolt. All salmon tank maintenance is done by the students. After the fish have grown, they organize a Science Fair for the Fennville Elementary fifth-grade classes, who visit the New Richmond Bridge County Park to help the high schoolers release the fish into the river.
Students then work through eight different lab stations learning about science and nature.
This event runs from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the public is welcome.
