Saugatuck softball splits with Blue Devils

It was a tale of two games for Saugatuck during its softball season-opening twinbill with Lawton on Thursday, April 17.
After posting an 8-3 win in the opening game, the Indians committed several errors—both physical and mental—in the nightcap to suffer the 11-2 as they were forced to settle for the split.
“I was really happy with the way we played in our first game,” Saugatuck coach Matt Diaz said. “If we play every game like that, we will continue to have success.
“The second game was the opposite. We didn’t come out as focused as we were in the first game and defensively there were too many balls getting by us, as well as pop ups dropping in the infield for hits. If we play with that kind of lack of focus, we’ll struggle. We can’t have those Jekyll and Hyde type of games.”
