Bulldogs, Trojans settle for twinbill split

Otsego senior center fielder Jaeden Thompson didn’t want to suffer a sweep at the hands of archrival Plainwell.
So he decided to do something about it.
Thompson went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs to lead the Bulldogs to the 12-2 victory over the Trojans in the nightcap of the Friday, April 18, Wolverine Conference East baseball doubleheader.
The game was stopped after five innings due to the mercy rule, as Otsego scored all 12 of its runs in the first three innings, with eight of those runs coming in the third inning alone.
Otsego coach Matt Eldred traced his team’s strong offensive start in the second game to a strong end to game one. In that contest, the Bulldogs plated two runs against a pair of Plainwell relievers after being limited to a single run through six innings by Trojan starter E.J. Finch, who led his team to the 6-3 win.
