Shaky start hurts Otsego in loss to Gull Lake
Call it a hunch or a gut feeling or whatever you’d like,
The bottom line is Otsego baseball coach Matt Eldred decided to start with Nick Weirick on the mound for the Bulldogs’ Division 2 district semifinal game against Gull Lake on Saturday, May 31.
“We liked the idea of the movement of Weirick’s fastball against Gull Lake so I decided to start him,” Eldred said. “He’s had some really good outings for us this year, including a shutout against South Haven.”
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Gull Lake came out swinging as they used an RBI double and a two-run homer as part of a four-run first inning en route to a 5-0 win.
