The first time I walked into Minnie’s Sephora Restaurant I thought I had stepped into a place straight out of a Damon Runyon story. Surely, in a booth tucked away in a back corner characters like Louie the Lug, the Lemon Drop Kid, Apple Annie, would be sitting down with Nicely-Nicely Johnson to plan their next “job”.

For those of you who are already falling behind: Damon Runyon wrote stories of small-time Roaring Twenties New York gangsters such as the ones named above. However if you have ever watched the musical comedy Guys and Dolls you are now up to speed, and we can continue.
