Wayland greenlights deal for industrial park

Virginia Ransbottom, Staff Writer

To lure another business to Wayland’s industrial park, the City Council on Monday approved the same negotiating price to a Portage Company that the city is offering to a $14 million Netherlands development.

While both companies are interested in the same 10.9 parcel, the Netherlands company is first in line for the property. The Portage company will be second, but if the deal is signed, will be offered another 14.3 acre lot next to Robinson Dental on Reno Drive for the same price.
Both companies are being offered a 50 percent tax break for real property and personal property over the next 12 years and a reduced rate on land of $10,000 an acre. Wetlands on the 14.3 acre property would be discounted.
