Rodney A. Aiken, 64

Rodney A. Aiken, 64, of Saugatuck, formerly of Evanston, Ill., at rest Wednesday, July 3, 2014. He was born April 4, 1950, in Naperville, Ill., the son of Shirley Ramsdell and the late Lawrence Aiken.
He was the beloved husband of Lynn McClure; loving father of Andrea (Ed) Chacon, Rebecca McClure and Andrew (Holly) McClure; cherished grandfather of Eddie, Ethan and Landon Chacon; and dear brother of Kim (Mickey) Aiken. Rod is survived by many loving cousins, nieces  and nephews.
Rod served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war, returning to earn a Master of Public Administration from Western Illinois University. He spent more than 30 years in public parks and recreation in Illinois, the last 18 years of which he served as executive director of the Glencoe Park District. Rod retired in 2009.
He was a member of the National Recreation and Park Association and a member of the board of directors of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.

A celebration of Rod's life will be Wednesday, July 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Glencoe Community Center, 999 Green Bay Road, Glencoe, IL 60022.
