If co-founders Hopwood and Dori DePree want to shop the festival, change dates and formats, rebrand or whatever, it’s fine with me. They’ve created a cool event that has value and we all have to pay our bills. That said, there are right and wrong ways to go about things.

The Waterfront Film Festival has bailed on its second waterfront community in three years.

In 2013 it was Saugatuck, which had hosted the first 14 yearly events. Last week South Haven, which already had the festival on its June 11-14 calendar, got the same news. Our Page 1 story shares the “official” words. Read between the lines what you wish.

I loved and supported the festival when it was here. Am I alone feeling used and burned?
