Otsego's Klein sees March Madness

Jason Wesseldyk, Sports Editor

BUFFALO, NY—In his younger days, Jared Klein would watch the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and wonder what it would be like to be part of March Madness.

He need wonder no more.
Klein, a 2012 Otsego High School graduate, and his Western Michigan University teammates won the MAC championship to earn a place in the “Big Dance,” garnering a 14 seed in the South.
And while the Broncos’ postseason run lasted just one game, ending with a 77-53 loss to third-seeded Syracuse, Klein said the experience is something he will always cherish.
“It was awesome,” the sophomore guard said. “As a kid, (participating in March Madness) is something you always dream about and now to say I’ve been a part of it is unbelievable.
“There’s just so many little things they do for you that you don’t see when you’re watching the games on TV. They make you feel special. I’ll definitely never forget it.”
