The Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will again descend on Otsego this August.
It will be Aug. 23-26 and the Otsego city commission Monday, June 18, unanimously approved the use of various downtown streets and public parking lots for the city’s third year hosting the event.
Last year, the event drew dozens of teams. Each team pays $140 to enter; for more information and to sign up, visit macker.com.
City commissioners also approved two other summer events at their meeting.
The first was the fourth annual Mud Volleyball Tournament that will be July 14 in downtown Otsego. The commissioners voted to approve the use of a beer tent under Salvino’s in Plainwell’s liquor license.
The event is put on by Otsego Main Street and costs $100 for a team of six to eight players or $15 for an individual. To register, email jsaukas@cityofotsego.org or call (269) 692-2336.
The other event is the sixth annual block party held by the residents of East Orleans Street. The group requested the use of the 300 block of the street from noon to 5 p.m. on July 22. The potluck-style event is open to the public.
