Wayland: Christmas parade

WAYLAND—On Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. is Wayland’s Annual Christmas Parade. It begins at the Wayland VFW Post 7581, 735 S. Main Street and proceeds north on Main, then west on Superior. The parade will conclude at the Wayland Fire Station, 160 W. Superior.  Visits with Santa will be at the fire department after the parade. Bring a camera for pictures with Santa.
The Wayland Boy Scout Troop 97 is encouraging parade spectators to bring non-perishable food items or gently used or new coats, gloves, scarves, boots, and hats. There will be many Boy Scouts walking in the parade picking up these items along the route. Items can be handed to the Scouts as they walk by. All items will go to help local families in need through the Christmas Project.
Bob and Anna Mae Tanner of Wayland have been selected as grand marshals.
Prior to the parade, the community is invited to attend the annual pancake buffet breakfast at the Wayland Fire Department,160 W. Superior St., from 7-10:30 a.m.
